Q. How do I become a nurse?
A. You will need to contact the Universities in your state to find out more information on the courses on offer to study Nursing.

Q. How much experience do I require to join Nursing Australia?
A. One year's full time experience in your current trade.

Q. Will it cost me anything to join Nursing Australia?
A. No, it is free of charge to join.

Q. What can Nursing Australia offer me?
A. As you will be a member of the largest group of nursing agencies in Australia you will be exposed to a large number of shifts, offering flexibility and variety. Follow this link for further Member Benefits.

Q. Do I have to work a certain number of shifts to remain a member of Nursing Australia?
A. No. We believe Agency Nursing is all about you, and therefore you can make yourself available as much or as little as you like!

Q. Can Nursing Australia provide me with a reference?
A. Nursing Australia can not provide you with a verbal reference, however on your request we can organise a statement of service or a letter of employment to be posted to you.

Q. How much will I get paid?
A. The pay rates vary from state to state and from facility to facility. Your local Nurse Consultant will be more than willing to discuss this further with you when you drop in to one of the Nurses Internet Cafes.

Q. I have booked an appointment with Nursing Australia, what do I need to bring with me to ensure that I can start earning money as soon as possible?
A. There are SEVEN important items you need to ensure you bring with you to your appointment (listed below). Having these documents will allow Nursing Australia to assess your skills for the best possible work placements, process your application efficiently and ensure that you are earning extra $$$ as soon as possible.

  • Registration documents and Post Graduate Certificates (RN) or Certificate III (PCW)
  • Up to date resume
  • 100 points of identification, one of which must be:
    • Passport: 70 points each
    • Birth certificate: 70 points each
    • Citizenship papers: 70 points each\
  • Remaining ID may include:
    • Drivers licence: 40 points
    • Registration: 30 points
    • Bankcard/visa: 20 points
    • Medicare card: 10 points
    • Tax document: 10 points
    • Recent bill: 10 points
  • Bank Account details, including your BSB and account number
  • Tax File Number
  • Superannuation information including account number and name of fund
  • Referees x 2 - These must be clinical referees that have worked with you within the past 1.5 years in a capacity senior to yourself. Nursing Australia require your referees work contact phone number. We suggest you contact your referees the day before your appointment to ensure they are not on leave and are aware that they will be contacted within the next 3 working days.
